Dumfries based Marchmount Bowls Club are among a welcome group of happy new customers, not only because they are finally able to start getting back to playing their favourite game, but also because they have returned to a new look Club.
A recent refurbishment of their Bowling Green has seen them invest in our Ditch Liners to give the Green a leading edge.
The new ditch liners were essentially the finishing touch to a fairly major project which the Club undertook at the end of 2020 season to replace timber edges round the green and raise and level areas that had sunk over many years.
Previously, they had used an egg box style material to line their ditches, but this had a number of drawbacks – the main one being that weeds grew into it and it required constant upkeep.
Alan Glendinning, Green Convenor commented: “The main function of a Ditch Liner should be to hold the Jack in place and protect it, along with any Bowls that roll into it. The Clifton Rubber Ditch Liners are ideal for this job. r
I’ve played indoor bowls and seen the Ditch Liners there. We did a bit of investigative work to see what products were out there on the market. We read the reviews and got a very competitive quote, so we decided to invest.”
Marchmount Bowls Club was formed in June 1910. It is one of 4 Clubs in Dumfries. With a membership of about 140, they also have a Commonwealth Games player in the team. It’s a popular club in great surroundings. So far, all the Club Members are happy with the new Ditch Liners – they work well and look good and should last for many years to come.
